The Case Study:

You are a high school nurse and attended a school athletic event. A spectator suffered a cardiac arrest in the stands. A coach of the home team went into the high school to retrieve the Automatic Emergency Defibrillator (AED) in the gym, and it was missing from the locked cabinet. Fortunately, the Emergency Response Services (EMS) arrived and were able to resuscitate the spectator. On Monday morning, you discover that the AED was locked in the custodians closet.

After review of the case study, in a Microsoft Word document formatted in APA 7th edition including double-spaced throughout, include the following:

• Title page
• Introduction paragraph to provide necessary background information about the topic and clearly state the purpose of the paper.
• A heading is required for each topic listed below:
• Examine your state policy, law, and/or issues on Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in public settings. See
• Discuss 2-3 rationales for AEDs to be required in schools and other public settings.
• Examine 2-3 sources of power to champion a preferred solution at the school including steps to resolve the issues (Review Ch. 8 Political Analysis and Strategies, Box 8-1, Sources of Power).
• Explain 2-3 types of power the school nurse role may have to champion this issue.
• Conclusion paragraph to summarize the main ideas and arguments, restate the purpose statement, and provide closure for the reader.
• Reference Page: On a separate reference page, include at least 3 scholarly sources and required course textbook using APA format 7th edition.
