Smart Technology Powerpoint

Instructions:

1. Select a SMART technology product that enhances the delivery of patient care by improving safety, efficiency or quality of care. Examples of SMART technology can include patient monitoring devices, mobile applications, medication administration products, patient documentation tools, and clinical decision support systems.

Create a professional PowerPoint presentation. Guidelines for PowerPoint presentation design:

• Present key points on each slide – no more than 6 bullet points and no more than 6-10 words per line/bullet point. Okay to use phrases, but avoid paragraphs.
• Font type and size are appropriate for audience view.
• Slide design and background are appealing but do not distract from the information being presented.
• Animations, graphics, or sounds are used to emphasize important points but do not distract from the information being presented. **For images, make sure to use stock photos and follow copyright law as necessary.
• Include SPEAKER NOTES on each slide. You will need sufficient writing in the speaker notes to explain the points made on the slides. Refer to the rubric to ensure all areas are discussed. Notes should have appropriate citations to sources using APA 7th ed. formatting guidelines.
• Title slide: Title of presentation, full name, course number, and name, and month/year.
• Introduction slide: State the purpose and main topics you will cover in your presentation.
• Conclusion/Summary: Highlight/Summarize the key points of your presentation. Provide key takeaways for the audience.
• Reference list slide – Use APA (7th ed.) format and guidelines.

3. The final PowerPoint presentation should be 10-12 slides in length, including the title and reference slides.

• Introduction: Provide a brief description of the patient care technology/system you have chosen.
• Describe how this SMART technology product improves the safety, efficiency, and/or quality of patient care.
• Discuss the benefits of of this patient care technology/system. Include perspectives from the patient, care provider, and healthcare organization.
• Discuss potential barriers to implementing this patient care technology/system. Include perspectives from the patient, care provider and healthcare organization.
• Identify what current or developing technology could potentially/eventually replace this SMART technology. How would this “newer” technology impact patient care delivery?
• Conclusion/Summary : Provide a conclusion/summary of the key points highlighting the patient care technology/system you presented on your powerpoint

3. Include a minimum of 3 references to research journal articles. Resources must be published in the last 5 years. You may include more resources such as professional websites and patient care technology/system product website.

4. Use of the APA (7th ed.) format and style are expected in preparing your slides and speaker notes.
