tourism-related issue that you would like to understand better. This exploration should
begin with the following four steps:
1) First, consider Nelsons (2021) textbook on Tourism Geography so you can begin to
determine the scope of issues and a potential topic for your research.
2) Once an issue is identified, begin with an online search of media sources. This will
provide you with a general sense of the issue and the regions of the world where it is
occurring. It should also raise more questions for you about the issue and where to
find further sources of information.
3) Other documents that you may find online include tourism reports and policy
information.
4) Once your understanding of the issue has been broadened, the last step is to search
for peer-reviewed academic journal articles that provide a more informed context.
For this assignment, you will prepare a Term Paper Proposal that shows what you plan to
study, how you will analyze it, and what sources you will use.
First, choose a focused research topic related to the course and identify the specific
geographic area you will study (explanation above).
Next, write a descriptive abstract (100200 words) in one paragraph that explains:
(1) your research topic and why it is important,
(2) your aims and objectives,
(3) the main points and scope of your analysis, and
(4) What do you expect to conclude?
After the abstract, create a brief outline of your proposed paper that shows the key
sections and how they connect to your objectives and conclusions.
Then prepare a reference list of 57 credible sources, including academic articles,
government documents, and reputable media sources. Four (4) of these articles must be
academic PEER REVIEWED- sources such as Annals of Tourism Research, Current Issues
in Tourism, Journal of Hospitality and Research, etc
