1. Start this assignment by looking through Chapters 14 through 23 in the course textbook to find artworks that grab your attention. You are being asked to look through these chapters to expose you to a wide variety of artworks from different parts of the world and from different time periods. Use the arrows at the top of each of the pages to move forward or backward, and make sure to scroll all the way down each page to view all the artworks and their information.
2. You will choose 2 very different artworks from different chapters to be able to see different cultures and/ or time periods. In addition, choose works that are very different in the following ways:
- 2D and 3D
- fine art and applied art/ craft.
- representational and non-representational
- naturalistic, idealized, abstract, surreal, or expressive, etc.
3. Find images of the artworks you chose. Include the pictures directly into your document.
- Make sure the images are not too large, but not too small that it is hard to see details.
- Do not send separate links or upload attachments.
4. Research each of your chosen artworks by reading about them or looking online for more information.
5. Then in a well written and detailed paragraph for each work of art (write directly under each image for each work), your post should address the following:
- Specify the chapter and page number where you found the work of art you chose (this is very important–do not forget this step).
- List the title, artist, culture or country and date of the work.
- Briefly describe the content (subject matter) and iconography, context (background) and basic information on the visual form (type of art). Use vocabulary from Chapter 2 and items in
- State whether it is considered a fine art or applied art or craft work and the reasoning why it falls into that particular category. Refer to chapter 1 and Engage and Learn.
- Choose at least 2 different stylistic categories of the artwork based on its appearance. Refer to Chapter 2. For example: representational and naturalistic, etc. and briefly explain why.
- And lastly, what theme or themes do you feel it represents or illustrates and why? Refer to themes in Chapter 3.
- Repeat these steps for both of artworks you chose.
