For this assignment, you will write a short paper in which you analyze one film screened in class from Module 1: Struggle for Independence

In your report on the film, you should clearly display critical thinking about the issues, concerns and approaches to cinematic representation of/in/from Africa. Consider also the complexities of issues explored in the film and how they connect to others on the continent of Africa, and in relation to the rest of the world. How do the issues manifest in contemporary times? Your essay should also include analysis of the aesthetics and materiality of the film. You must also reference the film and reading materials to which you have been exposed in class. You may refer to course readings, or other reading you have done.

Tip on making an ‘A’ on this assignment: In addition to all other guidelines and requirements indicated, cite specific scenes in the film to support your analysis, and use concepts from lecture one.
