This will be your first Pre-Observation, Observation, Post-Observation (PoP) Cycle.
TCAP Section One: Selecting and Contextualizing Your Observation
Review Section One of the TCAP and identify the specific part you will focus on. Use this assignment as a foundation for your TCAP submission. Later, you will incorporate additional information from Module 5 and 8 to complete this section.
Its important to review the entire TCAP to understand how each section aligns with the assignments you complete throughout this course. Remember, your TCAP can be completed before the end of the semester.

You are responsible for working with the cooperating teacher to prepare for formal observation.
The Instructional Unit plan is a complete area of study that you and the cooperating teacher facilitated in class.
Submit everything at least THREE (3) days prior to Formal Lesson Observation.
1. Unit of study – from the curriculum – copy
2. Completed lesson plan using
that you will teach during the formal observation
The Lesson Plan Template is a Thinking Map. It outlines the complexity of teaching and what a teacher must include when they are thoughtfully planning with information from data. Fill in the Lesson Plan Template using the specific lesson you have identified from the dedicated curriculum. Take the content and fill it in the sections on this template. There may be areas that will not have any information. This will help you see what the strength in the lesson plan and the needs based on the students you are working with.
After you place all the information from the curriculum, what modifications will you make to support your students? When you include the modifications, make a note and highlight the modifications. At the end of the template provide a narrative that explains what data was used to make the appropriate modifications on this lesson plan to ensure all students will have access to the learning.
3. Pre-assessments results
The Pre-Assessment: is a quick evaluation at the start of learning (a lesson or a unit) to gauge students existing knowledge, skills, interests, and potential misconceptions, that will help you tailor instruction, group students effectively, and challenge learners appropriately, preventing reteaching or boredom, and ensuring new learning builds on prior understanding. It serves as a diagnostic tool for instructional decisions, revealing gaps and informing differentiated teaching strategies.
The Key Purposes and Benefits of a Pre Assessment: Informs Instruction, Supports Differentiated Instruction, Identifies Gaps and/or misconceptions, Intellectually Engages Students, and Measures Growth.
In this section, you will upload a pre-assessment that the cooperating teacher implements.
- Highlight two strengths and two immediate needs that you learned from the results of the pre assessment.
- How did the results of this pre assessment inform your instructional decisions on: strategies, grouping, and differentiated instruction?
- Explain this in a narrative and reflect on how this helped you provide access to the learning for all the students.
4. Materials/resources (texts, manipulatives, websites/videos/apps, etc.) being considered for use in the lesson
- Explain how and why they will differentiate materials/resources to support ALL students in accessing grade-level content
- Explain how and why they will differentiate assessment(s) by citing evidence from the pre-test
- Explain the ways: student cultural heritage and interests are incorporated into the lesson
- Ability to articulate areas glow/reinforcement and grow/refinement areas
5. Rubric
- Include the rubric that will be used to analyze the student work. The rubric can come from the curriculum that is being used in the school. In a narrative discuss how the rubric will provide information that will support your lesson planning, differentiation, and grouping.
Clinical Supervisor will review all documents and provide the Teacher Candidate with suggestions/strategies/questions designed to improve the lesson.
