Watch the short video below. Although the case discussed is not from the criminal justice field, I believe it will offer you important lessons about the progress, and sometimes setbacks, of science and scientific evidence. Because research in criminology and criminal justice relies on scientific methods, it is essential for us to understand how these methods work and what limitations we must keep in mind. After watching the video, respond to the following questions in a total of at least 300 words: What was the central controversy discussed in the video, and why was it considered a major scientific mistake? Summarize the key points in your own words. What lessons can criminal justice professionals learn from the cold fusion case regarding how to handle emerging technologies or controversial evidence in policy and practice? Think about topics you have learned in other classes.
