The thought behind this concern is that if their families are financially stressed, individuals may be tempted to choose physician assisted death in order to avoid costly treatments. Further, the possibility of being compensated for organ donation may provide additional incentive for individuals from economically vulnerable communities to choose physician assisted death. Briefly define physician-assisted death. Where in the US is physician-assisted death legal? Describe the guidelines (e.g. eligibility criteria, requirements) and process for physician-assisted death. Describe the utilitarian and duty-oriented arguments in favor of physician-assisted death. Which argument do you think is stronger? Why? TOPIC 2: The authors discuss the patients rights movement to legalize medical cannabis in the US. Use an ethical theory from your book, at least 1 peer-reviewed research articles, AND the relevant basic principles of health care ethics (e.g., autonomy, justice, beneficence, etc.) to argue for the legalization of medical cannabis across all US states (at both the state and federal levels).
