Four essays are due as part of the unit one deliverables.
More specifically, for module one and module two, select one question to answer (in essay form) from the question alternatives. Also, select two additional questions to answer from module three (in essay form).
After you make your selections concerning which questions you will respond to:
- Copy the entire question you are responding to at the beginning of your response;
- Adhere to the word count guidelines for each essay;
- Include a reference list with EACH essay (including all of the sources, Internet materials, and ChatGPT search prompts you used to compose your essays);
- Make sure you include the required textbook for the course on EACH reference list (since the required textbook for the course will necessarily inform all of your essay compositions);
- Use the typical college essay format for your essays (double-spaced text with new paragraphs indented); and
- Use
- to format your reference lists. Again, be sure to include a reference list (including the required textbook for the course) with EACH essay.
Note: The standard college essay format typically follows a five-paragraph structure, although longer essays may require more paragraphs. The five-paragraph structure consists of:
- Introduction: The introduction should include a thesis statement that presents the main argument or idea of the essay. It should also provide some background information on the topic and grab the reader’s attention.
- Body paragraphs: The body paragraphs should support the thesis statement with evidence and analysis. Each paragraph should have a topic sentence that relates to the thesis statement, and the evidence and analysis should support that topic sentence.
- Conclusion: The conclusion should summarize the main points of the essay and restate the thesis statement in a new way. It should also leave the reader with something to think about, such as a call to action or a final thought.
After you complete your essays, please upload your work via this “Assignments” forum (either in one document or as four separate uploads).
*Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence or AI in this Course
Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) includes but is not limited to Bing Chat Enterprise, ChatGPT, Google Bard, any other Large Language Model (LLM), software or applications that are capable of generating text, images, video, music, voice, program code, or any other content based on prompts provided by users.
Subject to the limitations listed below, you may use GenAI tools ethically and responsibly to support the learning process in this course. Any use of GenAI should complement, not replace, your own efforts. You may use GenAI to brainstorm ideas, gather information, or enhance your understanding of the subject matter, provided you take the necessary steps to ensure the following.
- Your submitted work reflects your own viewpoints and efforts.
- The information you are using is correct, accurate, and unbiased. Because GenAI platforms are programmed to help, even if they do not know the answer, they may hallucinate, producing inaccurate or false information. Known examples include imaginary legal opinions and citations falsely presented as authority in legal briefs and other documents.
- You have acknowledged and cited all appropriately GenAI tools and information that you have used or referenced in assignments and identified the way Gen-AI contributed to your work. See How to Cite ChatGPT from the APA. Place in quotation marks any statement that an AI system generated directly and acknowledge: (1) the prompt you used; (2) the name of the AI tool and, if available, the version; (3) the company that provides the tool; (4) the date you used it; and, (5) the AI URL. You also might state that you asked an AI to identify any grammatical or spelling errors in your writing, or to brainstorm about topics for your paper. “The following text was generated with the assistance of AI, specifically [AI System Name], on [Date].”
- In creating queries or prompts, you have not provided any information referencing your own (or anyone elses) personal information.
CONSEQUENCES OF UNACKNOWLEDGED OR OTHER UNETHICAL USE OF AI:
You may NOT submit without acknowledgement or citation any materials generated or otherwise developed by a GenAI program and present the content as your own work. Any such submissions will be considered plagiarism in violation of the Tulane School of Professional Advancement Undergraduate Code of Academic Conduct (SoPA Undergraduate Honor Code).
[Note: Satisfactory completion of the course requirements entails adhering to the deadline given for posting the essays for each module AND participating in the GRADED discussion component (see syllabus for dates).]
