Generativity involves the concern for guiding and nurturing the next generation, often through parenting, mentoring, teaching, or community involvement, contributing to society and leaving a legacy. This assignment will challenge you to explore generativity, assess your level of it, and reflect on your classmates’ levels. This two-part assignment will challenge you to explore the concept of generativity, assess your level of generativity, and reflect on your classmates’ levels of generativity. You will begin by determining your approximate score, which involves using an online generativity assessment or a checklist of generative characteristics, activities, and qualities. Use the Topic 6 Resource “Loyola Generativity Scale” or other generativity resources. Note that there is no numerical score for most assessments. However, the higher your level of generativity, the more generative you may be. Imagine that you have been selected to present on the impact of generativity on life satisfaction at a psychology convention. Although this is not a group presentation, you will be delivering it to a small group of classmates to receive feedback. The date and format of the presentation will be determined by your professor. Record your presentation using the software of your choice (e.g., Screencast-o-matic). Your presentation should last between 7-10 minutes, demonstrate a professional demeanor, and include a visual aid such as a PowerPoint. Please ensure that your presentation is engaging by including plenty of photos and pictures. You may also include questions and short videos. Be sure to integrate at least three scholarly sources to support your arguments. Your presentation should include the following content: Define generativity in your own words. Examine the theories or theorists of generativity that resonate with you (e.g., Erikson, Logan, McAdams) and explain your reasons for this connection. Describe how culture (gender roles, religion, education, etc.) may shape generativity. Assess your generativity using the Loyola Generativity Scale or another assessment. Reflect on where you fall on the scale, explaining factors like life experiences or activities that influence your level. Remember, higher results suggest more generative behavior, even without a numerical score. Describe how your personality traits influence your engagement in generative actions. Describe your current activities that demonstrate generative behavior. Discuss your future career goals and how they might contribute to generativity. Identify additional actions to maintain or increase generativity throughout your life.
