Unit 4 Discussion – Inheritance Pick one genetic disease that is controlled by a single mutation. Explain how this disease is inherited. Is it a single-gene mutation or a chromosomal mutation? If it is a single gene mutation, describe the pattern of inheritance: autosomal recessive, autosomal dominant, X-linked recessive, or something else. If it is a chromosomal mutation, describe the nature of this mutation. Also explain what is known about this disease, including inheritance, symptoms, and prognosis, and how these are affected by the disease gene (if known). If this is a single-gene trait, explain why this allele maintained in the population at a frequency higher than the mutation rate.
