This field serves as the home baseball venue for Sul Ross State University, Alpine High School and for the Alpine Cowboys, an independent (Pecos League) professional baseball franchise. There is currently a debate regarding the future of this historic, but aging, facility. The facility was originally opened in 1947 at a cost of $1.2M and currently has a capacity of 1,400 spectators. In 2022, Texas Travel Awards magazine named Kokernot Field the best small market sports venue in the state. You are leading the planning committee that will determine if the facility will be restored, renovated, or replaced (new construction).
