Module 4 Discussion

Have a discussion with a colleague, friend or family member about whether or not they think that they are non-racist or anti-racist. Make sure that you identify your relationship to the other person (colleague, friend, family member, etc. Do not use actual names). Summarize your conversation.

Include these headings and format in your reflection.

4. Key Points: Demonstrate your knowledge of key points by making connections across module learning materials. You must make it clear that you have read and understood each required reading, lecture, and video link. Points are deducted when it is obvious from your comments that you have not read the assigned readings, listened to the lecture, and viewed the video/weblink. Please make connections to previous reading.
5. Personalized & Professionalized Reflection: Your written or video initial post is based on a critical analysis of course content and uses evidence to support thoughts and ideas. Focus on your personal and professional learning, insights and questions by writing about:
6. points you found most compelling; points you found challenging
7. key quotes/lines that you want to remember (may be useful in final project)
8. questions raised (if any)
9. new insights and strategies that will be helpful for teaching/working with culturally and linguistically diverse groups of students (insights for classroom teaching as well as for institutional and policy changes)
10. Peer Reply Responses: You must read or watch the posts made by two of your classmates and then make thoughtful, substantive responses. Substantive posts consist of clear, complete thoughts with reference(s) to readings, videos, or lectures and the appropriate citations. You may express your opinions; however, you will need to justify them with specific evidence and a respectful tone. Demonstrate analysis of others posts; extend meaningful discussion by building on previous posts. Focus your responses on any new points you found compelling or want to respectfully challenge, ask probing questions to improve your understanding of your classmates perspectives, and/or state any new insights and strategies youve gained from your classmates reflections.
11. Content Contribution: Be sure the content of your initial post and peer responses are factually correct, reflective, and substantive; and advance discourse.
12. References & Support: Use references to literature, readings, or personal experience to support comments.
13. Formatting & Articulation: All writing needs to conform to scholarly writing conventions and meet all APA format, citations, and structure requirements.
