As discussed on Week 2, throughout the term, you will work on portions of a Research Proposal which will be submitted as a completed assignment in the last week of the course. The purpose of the Research Proposal is to provide learners with the opportunity to apply course learnings while designing an original research study and conducting a literature review. You will apply your understanding of research design concepts to your research study idea and compile a completed proposal, though you will not actually conduct the study. As a reminder from Week 2: A few important things to keep in mind: You research proposal must be some type of quantitative research study. DO NOT design a qualitative or mixed-methods study. Your proposed study can be an experimental or nonexperimental study. You’ll be learning about specific types of quantitative designs in your chapter readings. THIS WEEK: You will complete your Research Proposal Introduction section by combining your literature review (from Week 2) with an overview of your topic and your proposed study. 1) You will begin your proposal introduction by identifying the specific problem area (what it is, why it is important) and the prevalence/scope of the problem. 2) You should then lead into your literature review which you completed in Week 2. 3) Then, at the end of each summary/critique (for each article you reviewed) add a sentence or two explaining how it relates to your research proposal/proposed idea and/or how you will use the article in your research. 4) Lastly, at the very end of your introduction, you should state the purpose of your study and research question(s), including hypotheses if applicable. *Your response should be 750 words or more (with the inclusion of you Week 2 literature review), and should be submitted in APA format. *You must submit a Word document only (do not submit a PDF or any other format – I cannot give annotated feedback on these formats on blackboard) *Remember, only use direct quotes when absolutely necessary. For this assignment, there should be 1-2 quotes at maximum (if any).
