Purpose:
To connect course concepts to real-world practice by interviewing a Womens Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) and creatively presenting insights about professional roles, leadership, advocacy, and lifelong learning.
Students will conduct a brief professional interview with a practicing WHNP and then create a 57 minute creative presentation highlighting what they learned about the NPs role and professional journey.
This is designed as a peer-learning showcase each presentation introduces the class to a different WHNP pathway.
By completing this assignment, students will be able to:
- Describe real-world WHNP roles and practice settings
- Analyze professional engagement through leadership and organizations
- Reflect on advocacy for lifelong learning and career development
- Compare diverse WHNP career trajectories
- Articulate their own emerging professional identity
Students must address the following during their interview:
- Role(s) as a Nurse Practitioner
- Practice setting(s)
- Patient populations
- Scope of practice
- Typical day or responsibilities
- Advocacy for Lifelong Learning
- Continuing education strategies
- Certifications or specialty training
- Mentorship (giving or receiving)

- Quality improvement, education, or advocacy initiatives

Students may select one of the following formats:
Option 1: Practitioner Spotlight (Mini-TED Style)
A 57 minute presentation introducing the WHNP as if they were a guest speaker:
- Who they are
- What they do
- What inspires them
- Key lessons for future WHNPs

Option 2: Career Journey Map
Create a visual career map showing:
- Education pathway
- Career milestones
- Leadership moments
- Professional involvement
- Advice for students
Can be presented via slides, infographic, or digital poster.
Option 3: Day in the Life
Present a narrative walkthrough of a typical workday:
- Clinical responsibilities
- Interprofessional collaboration
- Leadership moments
- Learning activities
Include at least 3 direct quotes from the NP.
Option 4: Professional Trading Card
Create one WHNP Trading Card slide including:
- Practice setting
- Superpowers (skills)
- Leadership stats
- Professional affiliations
- Career advice
Then give a short oral explanation.
